Turkey is where the East meets the West connecting South East Europe and SouthWest Asia cradling cultures and civilisations for centuries.

The European side of Turkey comprises of an area equal to the state of Massachusetts and the Asian side is about the size of Texas with Turkey being surrounded by the Mediterranean, Black and Aegean Sea.    

Following world war II Turkey became a founding member of the United Nations and has been an associate member of the European Union since 1963, however Turkey has not been accepted as a full member of EU as yet.  Turkey is also a member NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation)
